MegaRadio: Frequently Asked Questions

Listening help for MegaRadio: playback, supported devices, internet access and mobile data use.

What is MegaRadio?

MegaRadio is a directory for discovering radio stations and listening online to live streams provided by broadcasters.

Can I listen offline?

Live listening on the website requires an internet connection. Saving a station as a favourite does not download its audio.

How much mobile data does listening use?

For audio alone, approximate usage per hour is 29 MB at 64 kbps, 58 MB at 128 kbps and 144 MB at 320 kbps, using decimal MB. Network overhead adds data use, and bitrate varies by station. Your provider may charge for data.

What can I do if a station will not play?

Check the volume and internet connection, then press Play again or try another station. The stream may be offline or unsupported by your browser, or unavailable in your region. Use Contact with the station name, page URL, error and device details.

Does changing the interface language translate the broadcast?

No. The interface language does not translate the broadcast audio. Choose a station that broadcasts in the language you want.

Why is the current song not shown?

Song information is shown when the stream provides usable metadata; otherwise, the station name is shown. Track information may be missing or incomplete.

Does Play resume where I paused?

No. Pressing Play again resumes the live stream, not a recording from the point where you paused.

What affects audio quality?

Quality depends on the broadcaster’s source and your connection. Codec and bitrate information is shown where available. Uninterrupted playback is not guaranteed.

What is radio?

Radio is a revolutionary wireless communication technology that has been broadcasting audio content through electromagnetic waves for over a century. Traditional radio uses two main transmission methods: AM (Amplitude Modulation) and FM (Frequency Modulation) frequencies to deliver music, news, talk shows, sports commentary, and entertainment to millions of listeners worldwide. Modern radio has evolved dramatically beyond traditional broadcasts to include digital broadcasting technologies like DAB+ (Digital Audio Broadcasting), internet radio streaming, and web radio platforms that deliver content globally. Platforms like Mega Radio represent the future of radio broadcasting, allowing you to access live radio content from around the world directly on your devices - smartphones, tablets, computers, and smart speakers - without requiring traditional radio receivers. Whether you prefer AM/FM radio's classic simplicity or the unlimited variety of online radio streaming, today's radio landscape offers unprecedented choice and convenience for every type of listener.

What is internet radio?

Internet radio, also known as web radio or online radio, revolutionizes how we access live radio by streaming audio content directly over the internet instead of traditional AM/FM radio waves. Unlike conventional radio broadcasting that requires physical radio receivers and is limited by geographical signal reach, internet radio streaming breaks all boundaries, letting you instantly access thousands of live radio stations from every corner of the globe.

What is web radio?

Web radio is essentially synonymous with internet radio - live radio stations that broadcast exclusively online through websites and streaming platforms rather than traditional AM/FM frequencies.

Listening to radio has never been more accessible, with multiple convenient methods available to suit every lifestyle and preference.

Can I listen on my phone?

Which radio station is best?

The "best" radio station is beautifully subjective and entirely depends on your unique preferences in music, news, entertainment, and content style.

Which stations have no advertising?

Many radio stations worldwide operate without commercial advertising, relying instead on public funding, listener donations, or government support.

What devices does Mega Radio support?

Use a modern mobile or desktop browser. Support depends on the stream format, device and browser. For apps, follow the current links on the Applications page.

Do I need an account to listen?
